121 Volcanic Sunsets 21 January-20 June.
Since 21 January when the SO2 plume and stratospheric aerosols from the January 15th eruption of Hunga-Tonga volcano first reached Africa there have been 121 brightly coloured volcanic sunsets observed from Mutare during the period of 150 days up to the Winter Solstice on 20 June. The accompanying mosaic (and a slideshow which can be viewed at https://youtu.be/01u9F_wrIWU ) includes the best picture taken on each day that a volcanic sunset display was either directly visible or reflections appeared through cloud. A unique 5 month record of ground-based observation of the effects of a major volcanic eruption in the Southern Hemisphere on the stratosphere.
