Image Details:

The planet Mars at 38.6 million miles from earth. Mars is that very bright ruddy red object high in the eastern sky around 10 pm and is at its greatest brilliancy. It won't be this close again until the year 2035.
I took this image using the 11" Celestron EdgeHD telescope using the Explorer Scientific 3x Barlow and the Altair Hypercam 294C camera. I took the best 2,500 frames from a 10,000 frame movie capture using ShaarpCap Pro. I processed it in Autostakkert! at 1.5 Drizzle then post-processed that in RegiStax and Photoshop. I used UV/IR cut filter on the camera.
