First Quarter Moon from Sunset to Exact First Quarter
On 25th August, the exact moment of First Quarter for the Moon was at 7.57 pm Mutare time (GMT+2). The accompanying mosaic consists of three images of the Moon taken from when the Sun set below the local horizon at 5.31 pm to exact first quarter at 7.57. It shows how the sunlit portion expanded from just under half to reach 50% illumination during the two and a half hours in which the photographs were taken. To ease comparison the moon images have been aligned to keep the terminator horizontal.
