Last Quarter Moon near Mars.
A persistent layer of cloud to the east of Mutare cleared in the early hours of the morning to reveal the Last Quarter Moon close to Mars above Cecil Kop Nature Reserve. The Lunar Alps and Apennines were brightly illuminated on the Moon’s terminator just above the Sea of Rains and the already bright orange-red colour of Mars matched the colour of some security lamp illuminated Hibiscus flowers in my garden. Mars will continue to brighten until until October when it outshine Jupiter.
