This morning when I look out from my window, at a distance about 100 m, saw yet another bird species. This time it was the zebra dove (Geopelia striata) also referred to as the barred ground dove from the dove family, Columbidae, native to Southeast Asia. They are easily distinguished by their long tail and smaller size than other doves. Mostly they come in brownish-grey in colour with black-and-white barring and also famous for their pleasant soft, staccato cooing calls. I used to think that this is a juvenile pigeon or dove and didnt know it was yet another bird species.
