As Dr Ski has so thoroughly documented the summer Milky Way through Scorpius and Sagittarius, I submit to you one of the many nebulae in Sagittarius, The Eagle Nebula, M16. The "eagle" is seen prominently in the center, but if you zoom in, it takes on a column-like structure that NASA has coined "The Pillars of Creation" seen in many Hubble photos. There are also little dark spots around the eagle that are affectionately referred to as "tadpoles". This one took me all night, but is only 2.75 hours worth of exposures. Astrophotography is Just like a thanksgiving dinner: it takes all day to prepare but only a half hour to eat!
