Photos from friends: An awesome night for auroras

On the heels of yesterday’s solar eclipse for the Southern Hemisphere, people across Earth at northerly latitudes last night (November 13-14, 2012) saw and photographed a fabulous display of the aurora borealis, or northern lights. Thanks to EarthSky Facebook friends for posting these wonderful photos.

Bottom line: Photos of the beautiful aurora borealis, or northern lights, seen at northerly latitudes on the night of November 13-14, 2012.

What causes the aurora borealis, or northern lights?
