Here’s a dust devil crossing a road near Lebanon, Oregon, on August 28, 2010.
This amazing series of images was taken by EarthSky Facebook friend Theresa Lynch. She said, “I remember getting all excited and fumbling for the camera.”
Frank Brody, another ES friend on Facebook and a National Weather Service meteorologist, commented: “Great pic! This is a classic dust devil. Common in summer in western U.S. mostly, due to steep temperature lapse rates. Not due to a thunderstorm.”
Thank you Theresa and Frank!
