Derek Wills
Dr. Derek Wills is a Professor of Astronomy at the University of Texas at Austin, and has been associated with EarthSky since its inception in 1991. He studied Physics as an undergraduate at the University of London and then joined the radio astronomy group in Cambridge (UK) for his PhD research. He joined the faculty at UT Austin in 1968. He is married to Dr. Beverley Wills, who had just completed her PhD in radio astronomy when they first met in the control room of the Parkes radio telescope. They have worked jointly on individual and statistical properties of quasars, making use of the Hubble Space Telescope and many observatories on the ground. His other main interests are playing early music, and amateur radio. He has a complete set of of all the EarthSky CDs, and has finally bought a CD player.
