Mawnan Smith is a village in the civil parish of Mawnan in south Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 1,539. “Here is the darkest of locations. We lived there for almost a year and with no street-lighting or industry in the area the sky on a clear night is breathtaking. With the nearest city 12 miles to the north and the English Channel just a mile away to the south, the only glow in the sky is Falmouth, some eight miles to the east. We have some of the best views to all points.”
