‘Impossible’ shots of Milky Way over city in new video

Rise of Milky Way and Venus in Singapore from Justin Ng Photo on Vimeo.

Justin Ng in Singapore captured a wonderful photo of the Milky Way and planet Venus over his city yesterday (February 28, 2014), which EarthSky featured as its Today’s Image. Today, Justin tells us he has compiled a number of shots of the Milky Way over Singapore – a major city known for its heavily light-polluted skies – into this beautiful video. He wrote:

First time-lapse movie of Milky Way ever filmed in Singapore!

I have just released a time-lapse movie of Milky Way filmed in Singapore for the first time. It has never been attempted by any photographers.

This movie aims to prove the popular belief wrong and it hopes to inspire more astrophotographers residing in heavily light polluted cities to unveil the beauty of the elusive Milky Way galaxy.

Visit Justin’s blog for more details on how he captured these images.
