This amazing video shows space shuttle Discovery preparing to dock with the International Space station for its last time. What’s more, it was filmed by engineer and amateur astrophotographer Thierry Legault from the countryside of Wiemar, Germany.
Watch the video for a few seconds to see the space shuttle Discovery emerge from the darkness of space and ready into position for its final docking with the ISS. Space shuttle Discovery will be retired upon completion of its 11-day mission, which launched February 24, 2011.
Mr. Legault gave EarthSky special permission to show this video here to you. We invite you to find out more about the equipment and processing of this incredible footage at his website, which includes beautiful images of spacecraft, our moon, sun, planets, and stars.
