Steven Holland’s research focuses on why some people get infected by unusual bacteria that never affects the majority of the population. He is the chief scientist of the Laboratory of Clinical Infectious Diseases, at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. He received his M.D. from Johns Hopkins University, and has worked at the National Institutes of Health since 1989.
