Dr. Robin E. Bell directs major research programs in Antarctica and on the Hudson River as a Doherty Senior Research Scientist at Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory. She was a leader of the International Polar Year, an international effort to improve scientific knowledge of the polar regions. She is also the Director of ADVANCE, a program to expand opportunities for women in science and engineering at the Earth Institute. Dr. Bell is one of EarthSky’s science advisors and bloggers.
