Paula Schnurr led the largest individual psychotherapy trial ever done on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It was also the first Veterans Affairs study to focus exclusively on female GIs and PTSD. Dr. Schnurr’s research focuses primarily on treatment and the physical health effects of exposure to trauma. She is deputy executive director of the National Center for PTSD, and she serves as the acting Associate Chief of Staff for Research at the White River Junction VA Medical Center.
