Ethnobotanist Michael Balick, director for the Institute of Economic Botany at The New York Botanical Garden, has worked for three decades document the relationship between plants and people in tropical, subtropical, and desert environments. He works with indigenous cultures to understand their plant knowledge and practices. He is best known for his work in Belize.
