John P. Holdren serves as advisor to President Obama for Science and Technology. His degrees are in aeronautics and astronautics and plasma physics but his scientific interests and activities have been much wider. He is the author of about 300 articles and reports on plasma physics, fusion energy technology, energy and resource options in industrial and developing countries, global environmental problems, impacts of population growth, and international security and arms control. Dr. Holdren has served in numerous positions of responsibility in the scientific world and is a member of the National Academy of Sciences.
