John Barry is vice-president of Shell’s Unconventionals and Enhanced Oil Recovery, where he is leading efforts to manage and minimize emissions of greenhouse gases by capturing and storing carbon. He began his career as a reservoir engineer and petroleum economist in Gabon, the UK, and Oman, and later served as country chairman for Shell companies operating in Russia. He has held leading positions in Nigeria and Gabon, and is currently based in The Hague, Netherlands.
