Jeffrey Paine


Jeffrey G. Paine is a Senior Research Scientist at the Bureau of Economic Geology, Jackson School of Geosciences, University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Paine coordinates near-surface geophysics projects at the Bureau. His principal research interests, which include near-surface geophysics and Quaternary and coastal geology, combine an academic background in geophysics and extensive professional experience in near-surface strata. He specializes in applying borehole, surface, and airborne geophysical methods to help solve geological, hydrological, environmental, and engineering problems. He has served as principal investigator in more than 45 studies funded by state, federal, and regional agencies and has published more than 125 articles, reports, and abstracts. He is the 2010 recipient of the Gold Award from the Environmental and Engineering Geophysical Society. Dr. Paine is the lead author of the 2012 publication “Historical shoreline change through 2007, Texas Gulf coast: rates, contributing causes, and Holocene context.”
