Herman Daly studies the relationship between the economy and the environment, and the relationship of ethics and the economy. He has won the Right Livelihood Award, the Heineken Prize for Environmental Science, the Leontief Prize for advancing the frontiers of economic thought, and the Medal of the Presidency of the Italian Republic. Daly founded the International Society of Ecological Economics, and is a professor of public policy at the University of Maryland.
