Carl Safina

Carl Safina heads the Blue Ocean Institute, which strives to inspire a closer relationship with the sea through science, art, and literature. Dr. Safina, a MacArthur fellow with a PhD in Ecology from Rutgers University, is the author of several acclaimed books and more than 100 scientific and popular publications on ecology and oceans. In May of 2010 Dr. Safina testified before Congress on his concerns over chemical dispersants used to control the spread of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
