Barry Barish is director of the Global Design Effort for the International Linear Collider. In 2002, he was appointed to the National Science Board, which oversees the National Science Foundation and advises the President and Congress on science, engineering, and education policy. Dr. Barrish is a fellow of the American Physical Society and an elected member of the National Academy of Sciences. He received a Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley in 1962.
