Barbara J. King has studied the gestural communication of African great apes for many years, and writes frequently about the evolution of language and culture. She is professor of anthropology at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. Her research now focuses on the nexus of nature, science, and religion, and she is the author of Evolving God: A Provocative View on the Origins of Religion.
