I've been telling my friends for years to invest in desalination plants, or future plants. We'll definitely have the need for more fresh water soon. If I had a billion dollars, like a handfull of wealthy sheiks do, I'd build a plant and easily make a profit, as well as supply water to those who need it and can't get it.

It occurred to me that there could be a few uses for the salty byproduct of desalination. HIghly saturated salt brine is an excellent heat storage medium. Many larger scale solar power plants use salt to transport heat from the collectors to the heat exchangers used to produce steam for the generators. I'm sure that at the volume of fresh water Zander is speaking we probably don't have enough uses for the salt yet but I'm sure a little commercialization of the salt byproduct might find some interesting uses eventually.

do you have a news letter. what is the cost to build a plant. what is permit cost. time of completion. how many gallons could it produce per day. tim 2145666179
