We, like it or not are the only self aware being that we know of. Without self awareness, there can be no judgements of value. Environmental damage is defined by humans. Environmental repair is defined by humans.</p> <p>When a caldera explodes and destroys everything down wind, the animals and plants just die. They make no value judgements. Of course, the land returns to fertility in a few millenia. It just is. No value, good or bad.</p> <p>Environmental damage is defined as something we humans don’t like.
