John, Thanks for your comment. Shell does, in fact, we have research partnerships and programmes with around 300 universities throughout the world. These programmes cover a broad scope of research activities including those that help advance the development of new fuels, cleaner fuels and future transport systems. The work we do with universities is an important part of our total R&D programme.

Let me give you one example: Shell is working closely with, and funding, at least three universities engaged in the production of biofuels from algae.

Your comment about the future being electric. As Yogi Berra said, " predictions are always difficult, especially when they concern the future". I am not convinced that all electric is the future for transportation and it may not bee the greenest either in every case. I think solutions will come from diversity of energy sources and from efficiency. Electric cars and fuel cell cars will be a part of the mix, but may not be the only part.

The future is electric. How about comments from scientists working on fuel cells, and the batteries of the future. We need to look forward, to invent and create new technologies. The least Shell could do, if they want to encourage real dialog, would be to help fund Universities who are committed to the future green technologies.
