Jeri and Deborah, Great question! You can/should eat salmon. I love them too! Just make sure the salmon you eat is wild salmon, not farmed. Salmon farms are a big problem for wild salmon (farmed fish are actually Atlantic salmon because they can be raised in higher densities, farmed salmon are often fed soybeans which makes them a white color (versus the natural red color they get from eating natural foods) so they must be injected with artificial dyes to make them more appealing, and they can carry sea lice (because of the high densities they are kept at)which infest wild salmon). Eating wild salmon supports local fisherman and puts a monetary value on them as a resource. This actually increases the incentive to conserve them. I'd be happy to give you more information on this and certified sustainable fisheries. So enjoy your salmon, but only wild!!

I wonder the same thing. They are such wonderful creatures, but also so delicious and healthy. Still, if they are threatened ... should we stop eating them?
