Hi Mark,
As no-one has responded to your comment-i thought i'd try to!
i'm a final yr science student, doing a module in atmospheric chemistry.
And, yes CO2 is actually listed as one of the pollutants damaging the quality of urban air. it is released from the combustion of fossil fuels in power stations. Main sectors that relaease it is: transport, industrial and domestic.
it is produced naturally also by the decay of vegetation, volcanic eruptions, respiration etc. it has a ressidence time of about 100yrs in the atmosphere. it is cause for concern because it causes the green house effect, along with other chemicals of course.
the greenhouse effect is simply, chemicals (such as CO2) absorbing the infrared radiation and re-emitting it. this leads to the warming up of the earth's surface and the troposphere.
i hope this helps ya!but i'm no expert!!!

Educate me, please! Carbon Dioxide is what green things like trees and plants intake for photosynthesis, isn’t it. Why are we calling it dangerous? I need a clear answer to this. I’m not seeing a problem.

thx,
