		<description>well you can hear the wind of the the storm thats bringing the snow... does that count? i think yes and also if enough snow lands on something that eventually breaks or bends with the weight of the snow you can hear that loud and clear..

never heard any one speak of columns when refering to snow - so thanks for the interesting factoid
